LDN 43：星宇蝙蝠星雲

說明: 銀河系最驚悚的星雲是那個？ 暗星雲LDN 43會是個有力的競爭者，因為它高度形似萬聖節夜在恆星之間飛舞的巨大宇宙蝙蝠。 這團位在蛇夫座方向約1400光年遠處的分子雲，其密度高到能遮擋背景恆星的星光，以及鄰近反射星雲LBN 7雲氣絲所反射的星光。 不過，這道長達12光年的氣體與塵埃絲，並非滅亡使者，反而是個創生的恆星形成區。 這隻蝙蝠之所以會散發怪異的光芒，其實受到內部剛誕生年輕恆星的緻密氣體結之照亮。
