thismoonisbecauseitisveryneartoits
newphase,
whenverylittleofthehalfilluminatedby
theSunisvisibletotheEarth.
Anotherreasonisbecausethismoonis
nearthehorizon
andsoseenthroughalongpathof
Earth'satmosphere--apathwhich
dimsthealreadyfaintcrescent.
Anycrescentmoonis
onlyvisiblenearthedirectiontheSun,
andsoonlylocatablenearsunriseofsunset.
