利用ISUAL的光譜光度資料,估算出紅色精靈、精靈暈盤和淘氣精靈所釋放出的平均能量。並推估出以上三者對中氣層75-95公里的化學影響。這些能量的注入,對高空大氣的化學組成(例如會影響臭氧生成的NOx)可能會有相當重要的影響。[Kuo et al., JGR, 2012]

Spatiotemporal evolution of the electric field generated by a vertically oriented CG lightning with a peak current of 280 kA. In the cylindrical simulation domain, the altitudinal range (z) is between 80 and 100 km, while the horizontal range (r) is between 250 to 250 km. The strength of the electric field is in units of the conventional breakdown electric field Ek. The open circles denote the points at r = 80 km and z = 87 km where the temporal evolutions of the chemical species and the associated chemiluminescent emissions are demonstrated in 圖2b and 圖2c, respectively.
