紅外光波段的草帽星系

說明: 這個飄浮的環之大小和星系相當。 更具體的說，它就是草帽星系，或至少是草帽星系的一部分。 很上相的草帽星系，則是我們附近的室女座星系團裡最大的星系之一。 而在可見光所見、環繞在草帽星系腰部的黝黑塵埃帶，於紅外光波段變得格外的明亮。 這幅經過數位增銳的主題影像，整合了來自史匹哲太空望遠鏡所記錄、並以假色呈現的紅外光數據，以及美國航太總署．哈伯太空望遠鏡先前所拍攝的可見光照片。 草帽星系又名為M104，離我們約有2千8百萬光年遠，大小約為5萬光年。 用小望遠鏡就能在北天的室女座方向見到M104。 （Sombrero Galaxy 墨西哥帽星系、草帽星系或寬邊帽星系）
