智利上空的雙子座流星

說明: 輻散自雙子座央源的雙子座流星雨，在過去數星期之中灑落到地球上。上面這張攝於12月13/14日夜晚極大期的夜空組合影像，記錄在四小時期間，雙子座流星掠過智利．Las Campanas天文台上空的景象。在影像前景，可見到2.5米的杜邦和1米的SWOPE望遠鏡。流星的後方，有影像中央附近的明亮木星，左方垂直上指的銀河盤面，以及最左側粉紅色澤的獵戶座大星雲。在拍照之時，掃集自活躍小行星 3200 Phaethon軌道的塵埃，以每秒22公里的速度穿過大氣，形成雙子座流星。
