紐西蘭上空的糙面雲

說明： 這什麼雲呢？ 這種具有不尋常結構、外觀頗為凶惡的雲種，其成因目前不明，但咸信並非惡劣天氣的前兆。 近幾年才確認是新雲種的罕見糙面雲（Asperitas Clouds） ，外觀頗讓人驚艷，但相對少有研究。 相較於大多數雲種的底部是平坦的，糙面雲的底部有明顯的垂直結構。 因此專家推測糙面雲可能與某些雲種相關，像是形成於山區附近的莢狀雲、與雷暴系統有關的乳狀雲、或出現在背山面沿著山坡往下吹的乾熱焚風。 而發生在紐西蘭南島東岸的焚風 ，則另有西北雲弧 （Canterbury arch streams）之稱。 在這張2005年攝於紐西蘭 坎特伯雷區漢默泉鎮的主題影像裡，這團糙面雲由於受到陽光側照，其雲層結構變得格外鮮明。
