HR 4796A: 造行星的配方

說明： 兩百二十光年之外，行星正在形成之中。最近觀測雙星系統 HR 4796 証實其中的一顆星週圍有塵埃圓盤，圓盤的大小、年齡與密度皆適中，可讓塵埃顆粒吸積周圍的物質。圓盤的中心有空洞，顯示已有較大型的凝結體形成，將繼續粘合形成衛星和行星。上圖是此一系統 (譯註：指HR 4796A與圓盤)的假色照片，而十字所標定的位置即為亮星 HR 4796A。圓盤的直徑約是本太陽系的五倍，而我們的視線約和盤面平行。 HR 4796 位於半人馬座 (南天星座之一)
