說明： 獵戶座是濕答答的嗎？ 近來的一些觀測 證實 著名的獵戶座中的水分子，乃持續在形成 與增加之中。 獵戶座大星雲 (M42, 參見上圖) 主要是由 氫氣所組成，當然也含有微量的 其他原子與分子。獵戶座大星雲非常的 巨大，所以縱然所測得水的產生速率很小， 但 M. Harwit (康乃爾大學) 所領導的研究群揣測，獵戶座大星雲每天所生成的水量，是 地球海洋總 水量的六十倍以上。 彗星裡的水、地球海洋裡的水、甚至 人類身體內的水，可能都是在類似獵戶 座大星雲的雲氣中形成的。
