3I ATLAS：星際彗星的尾跡

說明： 我們的太陽系有多典型？ 研究剛剛掠過太陽系的彗星 3I/ATLAS 為我們提供了線索。 先前已確認的星際訪客包括一顆小行星、一顆彗星、一顆流星以及一股以氫和氦為主的氣體風。 與太陽系統中的彗星相比，彗星3I/ATLAS顯得相對正常，這進一步證明了我們的太陽系是一個相對典型的恆星系統。 例如，彗星3I/ATLAS的化學成分與噴射出的塵埃大致相同。 這張照片是上週從德克薩斯州拍攝的，照片顯示了一顆彗星的綠色彗髮，一條可能受到太陽風偏轉略帶藍色的離子尾，以及一條輕微的反尾，這些都是典型的彗星特徵。 這顆彗星可以用望遠鏡觀測，於十月底經過了距離太陽最近的位置，並將於12月中旬經過距離地球最近的位置，之後它將返回星際空間，並且永遠不會再回來。
